Cyber Security Challenges Faced by Employees in the Digital Workplace of Saudi Arabia's Digital Nature Organization

Abstract

In the modern era, a security breach could result in the disclosure of information about millions of individuals, which could cause financial distress for businesses and erode consumer confidence. For this reason, cybersecurity becomes crucial for protecting businesses against cybercriminals and fraudsters. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the cyber security challenges encountered by Saudi Arabia digital organization employees in the digital workplace. To accomplish this objective, qualitative research methods and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data from 20 individuals representing various organizational divisions. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, which revealed five significant themes: lack of knowledge and training, insider risks, social engineering attacks, insufficient passwords and authentication, and bring-your-own-device (BYOD). These themes were further subdivided into subthemes according to the frequency of participant responses. The findings indicate that the organization must employ more robust cyber security measures and awareness programs to address these challenges effectively. The research provides valuable insights into the cyber security challenges employees encounter in Saudi Arabia's digital nature organization digital workplace. It can serve as a foundation for future regional cybersecurity research.
